George E. Tweedt purchased a lot in in the town of Idyllwild, California, in 1926 for $500. And since building the original home in "one weekend," the Tweedt Family has had a mountain retreat in Idyllwild for nearly 100 years.
But after decades of horseback riding, hiking, exploring, playing cards, and sledding, the original house was showing it's age. Architect Dennis McGuire completed a new home for the family known as "Glowing Lantern" in 2004 for future generations to enjoy.
This website explores this new home, the history of the Tweedt Family in Idyllwild through photos, videos and text, and tells the story of Busted' Buns Sled Rides (BBSR), the sledding "resort" located on the property.
